District officials say Fox Chase Elementary School at 500 Rhawn Street was evacuated Wednesday morning because of fumes emitted while work was being done on the building's roof.

The children were directed to St. Cecilia School across the street while the building is being aired out.

The school district says students will be allowed back in the school shortly.
