Food Trucks Get Spotlight During DNC

Dozens of food trucks took over Old City to help kickstart the Democratic National Convention. The event was just one of handful that put vendors at the forefront during the political event to showcase Philadelphia's rising mobile food scene.

Food truck vendors on Monday lined the streets of Historic Philadelphia for the Philly Feast: United We Eat food festival, curated by the Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee for the DNC, The Food Trust and Plate of the Union.

Many reported brick-and-mortar restaurants would get an economic boost from the DNC, including buyouts and rentals from a number of parties and media outlets.

Food trucks, however, are getting a slice of the action, too. There have been a number of events where food trucks were the go-to way to satiate hungry guests, including delegate welcome parties and happy hours hosted in a number of venues, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Woody's Bar.
