Father of 2 Shot in Home Invasion: Cops

Police say one man was shot while another was tied up and suffered a seizure during a robbery and home invasion in Frankford.

Police are investigating a robbery and home invasion in the Frankford section of the city. It happened early Wednesday morning at an apartment on the 1900 block of Fillmore Place.

Police say two gunmen entered the apartment and shot a 39-year-old man in the lower back. The gunmen also allegedly tied up and gagged a 51-year-old man who suffered a seizure. They then fled the scene with around $200 in cash, according to investigators.

"This robbery and shooting happened in front of four witnesses," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. "Two of the witnesses were the 8-year-old and 12-year-old children of the father. The father was shot right in front of his children."

Both victims were taken to the hospital. Police say the 39-year-old man is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. No word yet on the condition of the 51-year-old.

Investigators say one suspect was wearing a mask and black clothes while the other was wearing a Grey hoodie pulled over his head. One gunman was armed with a handgun while the other was armed with a shotgun, according to police.
