Middle School Naked Photo Scandal at Chester County Charter School

A Chester County charter school became the latest area school to deal with students sharing naked photos of each other.

Collegium Charter School in Exton notified the parents of all its middle school students Wednesday, after police uncovered allegations that photos of naked students were being shared by classmates.

“We take these very seriously -- these are children under our care,” said Collegium CEO Dr. Antoinette Rath.

Local police began investigating after a parent approached the principal with a “relationship concern” about a child, said the school.

Police uncovered allegations that two students were showing off nude cellphone photos of other students while at school. On Thursday, state police picked up the investigation.

Collegium's using it as a "teachable moment."

We choose an avenue of working with our parents, side-by-side, educating our parents providing them the resources to begin the conversation with their child and then we clearly reinforce that back at school,” said Rath.

The school is the same one where English teacher Katie Cross worked before being arrested over the summer after police said they found her being intimate with a teenage student in her car while parked off-campus.

As was the case then, the school alerted parents about this incident as quickly as they could, they said.

The school also asked any students who see something to speak up and for parents to keep talking to the children about the dangers of sexting.
