Shoppers rejoiced as a Century 21 Department Store officially opened on Market Street Tuesday afternoon.
Mayor Michael Nutter was in attendance to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony with the owners and executives of the high-end fashion retailer. The 95,000-square-foot. store has brought almost 300 full-time and part-time jobs to Philadelphia.
Century 21 is known for discounting its goods up to 65 percent.
Members of the store's loyalty shopping program were able to get a sneak peek of the location last Friday.
This is the first store branch outside of the New York metro area. Philadelphia Business Journal reports that the Center City location was designed "to create a luxury experience for shoppers who are seeking deep discounts on high fashion."
The Philly store is located at 821 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19107.
