Del. Man Beaten by 10 People During Fight

The victim, who was protecting his girlfriend, is being treated for broken bones and brain swelling.

A Delaware man is in the hospital after being beaten by 10 people while trying to protect his girlfriend, according to Delawareonline.com.

Newark police say the 23-year-old victim's girlfriend was struck by an unidentified man in the midst of several fights on the 100 block of E. Cleveland Avenue in Newark just before 1 a.m. Sunday, reports the paper.

"The problems appear to have started because of house parties in the area," Master Corporal Gerald Bryda told the paper.

According to Delawareonline.com, the unidentified victim jumped in after witnessing his girlfriend get hit. It was then that 10 people began beating him up -- stomping and kicking him. One man hit him in the head with a glass bottle.

Police are seaching for that man. They describe him as a man in his 20s weighing around 145 pounds. Delawareonline reports that the man is 6-foot with many tattoos on his arms. He has a beard and the letters "DC" shaved into his head.

The victim is being treated at Christiana Hospital for broken bones and brain swelling.
