A Delaware woman who was driving an SUV on pain killers and with her right leg in a cast has been charged with vehicular assault after she struck a pedestrian on a sidewalk.
It happened Thursday afternoon just outside of Wilmington. Police say 41-year-old Teresa Borcherdt's vehicle began drifting into the wrong lane, and she overcorrected and drove off the road.
Her SUV struck 35-year-old Kenney Cooper who was thrown 60 feet and landed in the grass.
Police say Borcherdt drove off. Witnesses told police where she headed, and officers found her in a college parking lot.
Cooper was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Borcherdt is charged with vehicular assault, driving under the influence and multiple traffic offenses.
