Construction aimed at easing one of the worst traffic bottlenecks in Middlesex County is set to get underway soon.
The state Transportation Department on Tuesday night will discuss upcoming construction along Route 18 north during an information meeting at New Brunswick City Hall.
The $26 million project will add a lane from just north of Westons Mill Pond to Route 1 south. The goal is three lanes will ease congestion at the merge with the New Jersey Turnpike.
The Star-Ledger of Newark reports the widening project is slated to start on Aug. 15 and last about two years. Most of the work will be done during off-peak hours.
