Couple Arrested in Pot Bust: Cops

Police say a probation check led to the arrest of a Delaware couple who allegedly were in possession of over 140 grams of marijuana.

Officers arrested a Delaware couple for allegedly possessing more than 140 grams of marijuana  inside their home.

Last Wednesday at 5 p.m., police arrived at a home on the 400 block of 5th Avenue in the Murray Manor Trailer Park for a probation check on Barbara Jordan, 57. When they arrived, police say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the house. Investigators say Jordan initially refused to answer the door as the officers knocked.

Jordan then answered the door and was detained immediately, according to police. Police say they then learned another person, 51-year-old Norman Harper, was also inside the home and had locked himself inside a spare bedroom. Harper then allegedly left the room and attacked the officers in the hallway as they tried to detain him. Investigators say the scuffle continued outside the back door of the home until Harper was eventually taken into custody.

Police say the probation officers suffered minor injuries. During a search of the home, they discovered 143.1 grams of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia, according to investigators.

Harper is charged with assault, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and other related offenses. He was arraigned and released on $21,500 unsecured bond.

Jordan is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned and released on $750 unsecured bond.
