20,000 Birds Die in Delaware Chicken House Fire

Some 20,000 birds died in a chicken house fire in Laurel. said Delaware officials.

The State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze was reported about 5 a.m. Friday on Trap Pond Road. Firefighters from several companies battled the blaze in the 400-foot-long structure. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $75,000.

Investigators said the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in the bird feeder system.
