Man Dies After Shooting at Camden Apartment Complex

Investigators say a man found shot at a southern New Jersey apartment complex has died from his wounds.

Camden County prosecutors say the shooting was reported around 11:25 p.m. Friday at the Northgate I Apartments in Camden.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired there found 19-year-old Camden resident Johnathan Simmons lying in the rear lot of the building. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No further details have been released about the shooting, including what type of weapon may have been used.

A motive for the shooting remained under investigation Saturday. No arrests have been made, but authorities were trying to identify two people captured on surveillance video as they fled the area where the shooting occurred.

The shooting is under investigation by the prosecutor's office and the Camden County police.
