Bus Yard Blaze Forces NJ School Closure

Flames damaged or destroyed 3 buses and 8 vans at the Bordentown Regional School District's bus yard

Authorities are trying to determine what sparked a fire in a New Jersey school bus yard Thursday morning.

The fire at the Bordentown Regional School District's bus yard is being considered suspicious, according to Bordentown Township Police.

A passing motorist reported the blaze around 3:35 a.m. and police arrived to find multiple vehicles on fire, cops said.

Once the fire was extinguished three full-size buses and eight small school vans/buses were destroyed.

Luckily no one was hurt. But the damage was done.

It also forced the Clara Barton Elementary School, MacFarland Intermediate School, Peter Muschal Elementary School and Bordentown Regional Middle School to cancel classes because of transportation troubles.

And the high school had a two-hour delay.

Every bus that wasn't damaged was examined to make sure they were safe, officials said.

The district also brought in temporary replacement buses so that school could go on as scheduled Friday morning.
