Doctors Remove Bullet From State Trooper Shot by Teen: Police

Monday marked a major step in the continued recovery of a Pennsylvania State Trooper who was shot during a chase and fiery crash on I-676 Thanksgiving Eve.

Doctors removed the bullet from the right shoulder of State Trooper Patrick Casey at Hahnemann Hospital. Pennsylvania State Troopers took the bullet as evidence and it will be processed by the Department’s Regional Laboratory.

β€œThis was an out-patient procedure and Trooper Casey returned to his home at the conclusion of his appointment,” a State Police spokesperson said.

On Nov. 25, Casey was shot in the shoulder, allegedly by 17-year-old Giovanni Cotto, on I-676 during a car chase and crash. Cotto was later arrested and charged in the shooting.
