A man is recovering in the hospital after he shooting his longtime girlfriend to death and then turning the gun on himself Tuesday night, according to police.
Bethlehem police say that around 10:45, they responded to a 9-1-1 call to a home on the 1500 block of East 7th Street.
What they found was gruesome.
Margie Reyes, 38, lay dead -- shot multiple times. Her boyfriend, 41-year-old Luis Montero, the alleged shooter.
According to police, Reyes and Montero were fighting at the time of the shooting.
Police say the couple’s two children -- a teen and a younger child, were home when Montero shot his girlfriend, then turned the gun on himself.
The older child ran to a friend’s house, crying and begging him to call 9-1-1 claiming that his father killed his mother, reports The Morning Call.
Montero was rushed to St. Lukes Hospital where he is in stable condition. He is under police supervision. Murder charges are pending.
