American Flag-Wearing Bandit Holds Up Northeast Philly Wawa

A man, an American flag bandanna wrapped around his face, pulled a gun on a teenager working at a Northeast Philadelphia Wawa earlier this week.

The man walked into the convenience store along Harbison Avenue near Walker Street in Wissinoming around 4 a.m. Sunday, flashed a gun in his waistband then demanded the 19-year-old behind the counter hand over cash and cigarettes, said Philadelphia Police.

The worker emptied the register and handed over a carton of smokes then the robber fled up Walker Street.

Police didn’t report any injuries to the employee.

Police released surveillance video Thursday showing the thin suspect – described as being 25 to 35 years old, wore a blue and white baseball cap, a black T-shirt, a white T-shirt around his neck and black shorts – with his face covered.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.
