‘Afghan Girl' Print, McCurry Works Among Art Stolen in Inside Job: DA

Authorities say a print of the famous "Afghan Girl" photograph that once graced the cover of National Geographic is among dozens of items stolen from a suburban Philadelphia art gallery.

Prosecutors have charged a sales manager with stealing more than $650,000 worth of photographs, prints and books from Steve McCurry Studios in Exton.

Officials say 32-year-old defendant Bree DeStephano of York conspired with a gallery manager in Durango, Colorado. He is expected to be charged by authorities there.

The complaint says DeStephano also used aliases to sell dozens of McCurry's books online.

She has been released on bail following an arraignment Tuesday.

Defense lawyer Daniel Bush says his client has been cooperating with investigators. But he says he may dispute the official tally of the value of the art work.
