Fatal Tour Bus Crash Claims 3rd Victim

A third person has died after a tour bus crashed on a heavily traveled Delaware road more than a week ago. The fatal single vehicle crash occurred on Sept. 21 on Route 1 southbound in New Castle.

Delaware State Police say 43-year-old Jyostina Poojari of Mumbai, India succumbed to her injuries 5:18 a.m. Thursday.

Poojari had sustained multiple injuries in the crash and was transported to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where she had been treated since the crash. Hua'y Chen, 54, and Idil Bahsi, 30, also died.

The driver, 56-year-old Jinli Zhao of Flushing, New York, has been charged with the operation of a vehicle causing death of another person. Zhao was exiting Route 1 onto the US 13 northbound ramp when he lost control of the bus causing it to the slide on its roof down an embankment. There were 49 passengers onboard the bus.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and Delaware State Police Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Progrma Unit.
