17-Year-Old Arrested in Vineland Shooting

A 17-year-old male Millville, N.J. resident is in police custody following a shooting outside music venue Hangar 84 in Vineland, N.J.

At 1:17 a.m. Sunday, police received a 911 call about a shooting in the area of Sixth and Elmer streets.

Officers found an injured male passenger in a stopped vehicle. Jermaine A. Watts, 21, of Philadelphia had an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported by ambulance to Cooper Medical Center.

Additional officers apprehended a subject running from the scene. The suspect was armed with a handgun, and was taken into custody without further incident in the 700 block of Landis Avenue. Charges are pending for aggravated assault and weapons offense.

The preliminary investigation revealed there was a dispute involving several subjects outside Hangar 84. A single gunshot was fired. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information may contact Det. Chris Rodriguez at (856) 691-4111, ext. 4321.
