Police are searching for two gunmen who opened fire on a corner in Cobbs Creek, narrowly missing a 1-year-old boy who was with his mother and aunt.
Authorities tell NBC10 that three women and one man were on the corner of 61st Street and Osage Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when two men walked past the group, turned around and started shooting.
One man and one woman were shot. Police say the 22-year-old man is in critical condition with a gunshot to the stomach and the 19-year-old mother of the child was in stable condition after being hit in the hand.
The child's aunt was holding the 1-year-old in her arms. Authorities say she dove to the ground with the child, but they were not shot. Police say the boy suffered some cuts and scratches from the fall and was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to be checked out but was expected to be OK.
Police want anyone who may have witnessed the double shooting to give them a call.
"These people are reckless in their behavior, you have a 1-year-old kid, three woman all in their early 20s all being shot at and it's just unacceptable and the community has to be enraged by this and we have to get these types of people off the streets," said Lt. John Walker, Philadelphia Police.
