The Ditzy Diet

Limiting carbs limits brainpower

What you don't eat affects your weight and your brain.

Low-carb diets are famous for reducing waistlines in record time. But a Tufts University study found some mental drawbacks to limiting carbs.

The researchers tested the memory and reaction times of low-carb versus low-calorie dieters. The low-carb dieters got lower scores across the board.

Glucose is the main ingredient in carbohydrates and it's also the brain's main fuel. Your brain can't store glucose, like your thighs. As a result, the researchers say you don't think as clearly when you deprive yourself of carbs for long periods of time.
