Philly Not a Great Place for Veterans: Study

Philadelphia isn't the best place for those who served our country, according to a new study.

Personal finance social network WalletHub released its 2014β€²s Best and Worst Cities for Veterans list on the eve of Veterans Day.

Philadelphia landed at No. 83 on the list that took into account economic wellness as well as environment, education and health in 100 of the most-populated cities. Philly scored better on economic wellness (No. 69) than the other category (No. 82).

β€œIn honor of those who fought bravely for the sake of our freedom, WalletHub took on the mission of finding the best and worst cities for our former service people,” said the study.

WalletHub used a slew of sources including their own previous studies, US Census data, labor statistics and FBI stats while taking into account 19 separate metrics including job growth, cost of living, crime rate, veterans living in poverty and veteran population to make up the two main categories.

Pittsburgh (No. 11) placed top in Pennsylvania on WalletHub’s list while Jersey City, New Jersey just edged Philly at No. 81 and Newark, New Jersey came in dead last at No. 100. Now cities in Delaware appeared on the list.
