Unattended Suitcase Puts Campus on Alert

University of Pennsylvania students were put on alert this morning after a suitcase was left on campus.

The unattended luggage was left in a walkway near the Vernon Pavilion near 38th where it turns into University Avenue south of Spruce Street in University City around 8 a.m., according to Philadelphia Police.

A short time later the university police sent an alert out to students asking them to avoid the area.

The bomb squad was called in to investigate the scene, which is close to the veterinary school.

There were no evacuations and no one was hurt, according to university police.

Some students reacted to the incident on Twitter.

A university spokesperson said they got the all clear around 9:15 a.m.

It isn't clear who left the bag on campus.
