July is National Ice Cream Month

Way back in 1984, when Prince and Culture Club were topping the charts, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month. He even went as far as calling for all people of the United States to observe the frozen treat with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."

And what’s not to celebrate? In the United States, the ice cream industry generates more than $21 billion annually.

Start celebrating the weekend of July 4 with the Super Scooper Ice Cream Festival at Penn’s Landing. Choose from 20 different ice cream and water ice companies -- scratch that, don’t choose -- try every flavor from 20 different companies for just $5. Yup, $5 for all-you-can-eat ice cream and water ice. The Festival will be start at noon on Friday, July 3 and run through Independence Day.

Continue your celebration by signing up now for a free soft serve cone from Baskin Robbins, grabbing this coupon for $1.50 off Blue Bunny ice cream or for this month only, try Dairy Queen’s newest creation, the Tagalongs Peanut Butter Pattie Blizzard. Plus, you can sign up for a Blizzard buy one, get one free.

By the by, July is now our new favorite month -- fireworks, National Hot Dog Month and National Ice Cream Month -- come August, someone’s going to have to roll us into the office.
