With new recruits in the Philadelphia Police Department in demand, one official is doing his best to fill up spots. Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel is admitting about 40 people into the police academy every six weeks in efforts to reach Mayor Cherelle Parker’s hiring goal of 400 new officers a year.
