Southwestern Sausage Burger
Southwestern Sausage Burger topped with roasted peppers Instead of serving the same old sirloin or tired turkey burgers,
wow your guests with a sizzling southwestern sausage burger!
Ingredients: -
1 lb ground pork -
1/2 lb Ground Chicken -
1 teaspoon ground fennel seed -
1-2 tablespoons Dr. Marinade Blackening Rub -
2 cloves of garlic finely minced -
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar -
2-3 green peppers
Directions: In a large bowl combine the chicken and pork until the two are well blended. Add the ground seasonings, garlic and vinegar and mix well. Divide the mixture into 4 to 6 portions and form into burger patties. Grill burgers on high heat until thoroughly cooked through (6-8 mins per side). Roasted peppers: Lightly coat the peppers with oil and grill until the skin is black and blistered. Remove from heat place in bowl and cover. Allow them to sweat for 2-3 minutes then carefully remove the skin. Cut peppers open and remove the seeds and pith. Slice the pitted peppers into strips and place atop freshly grilled sausage burgers.

Cool things off with a refreshing sparkling pink lemonade that easily converts to pink sangria. Ingredients:
-2 Cups Water
-1 Cup Sugar
-1 Tablespoon Grated Lemon Peel
-1 Cup Fresh Lemon Juice
-1/2 Pint Fresh Strawberries pureed
-2 Cups Sparkling Water or Club Soda
-Fresh mint leaves
Directions: In a medium saucepan bring the water and sugar to a boil. Reduce heat and stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Stir in lemon peel and let simmer. Remove from heat, strain and let cool. Once the mixture has cooled pour it into a pitcher and combine it with pureed strawberries, lemon juice and sparkling water then refrigerate. Serve chilled and garnish with mint.
