New Jersey may lift an ignored rule that bans using large farm equipment on Sundays and holidays.

The rule is more than 40 years old and has its roots in the days when working on Sundays was frowned upon and people worried that farm vehicles could pull down power lines when utility crews were not working.

Motor Vehicle Commission spokeswoman Elyse Coffey told the Home News Tribune that the agricultural community finds Sunday mornings to actually be the best time to operate the machinery because there's less traffic.

Many farmers in the Garden State say are unaware of the rule because it is not usually enforced.
