β€œThe Doctor” and the Boxer

Dr. J's son makes his boxing debut

Philly legend Julius Erving sat ringside at an Atlanta fight over the weekend.

The "Doctor" was on hand just in case one of the men fighting needed a pick-me-up.

A verbal pick-me-up that is.

Julius Erving III, son of the former 76er great, was one of those men in the ring. "J," as he’s known, defeated Kantrell Cameron in the first round of his pro boxing debut.

It wasn't much of a fight as the younger Erving finished off Cameron in just under three minutes -- about the same time it took pops to take over an NBA game.

The cruiserweight newbie is being trained by Johnny McClain. McClain is also a former cruiserweight who tagged a 23-7-2 record over his nine-year career.

McClain is the ex-husband and promoter of another sporting legends kin, Laila Ali, daughter of boxing great Muhammad Ali.
