This one is Sixers-related, but the level of detail takes the cake.
Remember when Sam Hinkie was here and he constantly dealt with criticism from media and some fans that he should pursue short-term fixes? Sign a veteran point guard. Why hoard so many draft picks?
That criticism led to Hinkie once saying:
"Some would have us go out and buy apples. But we want to build the whole orchard. ... [And] you don't get to the moon by climbing a tree."
The last sentence is the one that stuck with folks - you don't get to the moon by climbing a tree. On top of being a shrewd deal-maker, Ol' Sam was quite the philosopher.
Philly fan @_serpendipity liked the phrase enough to get a pretty awesome tattoo.
