“Razor” Emery's Helmet Puts Up a Fight

Flyers goalie Ray Emery is going to be showing off his fighter’s mentality when he slides on his goalie mask this season.

Emery, known to be a hothead who once beat up former Flyers No. 1 goalie Marty Biron, will be paying homage to three great Philadelphia fighters on his Flyers goalie mask.

Pictures posted on the official Flyers Twitter feed revealed “Razor” Emery’s helmet -- an ode to three boxing legends. One side features former heavyweight boxing champ Joe Frazier while the other side features middleweight great Bernard Hopkins.

The kicker is the back of the helmet, which features the fictional Rocky Balboa.

This wasn’t the first time Emery tried to put a boxer on his helmet, according to The 700 Level. He tried to put Mike Tyson on his helmet in 2006 but his then general manager knocked out the idea.

Hopefully just like Rocky Emery will get the chance to knock down some opponents on his way to holding up some hardware above his head (i.e. the Stanley Cup).
