Watch: Joel Embiid's First NBA Basket Was a Pretty One

June 24, 2014 was the night Joel Embiid was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the No. 3 pick in the draft.

October 4, 2016 was the night JoJo first played in a competitive basketball game for the franchise.

That's 833 days of waiting.

Sixers fans have to wait no more.

Embiid suited up for the Sixers for the first time in a preseason game against the Boston Celtics up in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Brett Brown said before the game that Embiid's night would be capped with 12 minutes of game action but that was more than enough for Philadelphia to get a little excited.

JoJo flashed some nerves when he first touched the ball on the offensive end, almost turning it over on the team's first possession. He missed his first three shot attempts, all mid-range jumpers. He got a breather on the bench after about 4 minutes of action before returning to get his first bucket against NBA competition late in the first quarter.

And it was a pretty one. Embiid backed Cody Zeller down on the block before a nifty spin move and fadeaway. Count it.

Joel Embiid is finally on the score sheet.

Check back later for more JoJo highlights.

The Sixers trailed the Celtics by 9 mid-way through the second quarter at the time of this posting.
