In the Phillies' sixth interleague game of the season in an AL park, Ryan Howard is their designated hitter for the sixth time. Howard bats cleanup in Tuesday night's series opener at Target Field against Twins right-hander Tyler Duffey.
The Phils are hoping for some more power out of the middle of the order during this road trip. They just ended an 0-6 homestand during which their opponents made Citizens Bank Park look small while they made it look like an offensive deathtrap.
Sandwiching Howard are Maikel Franco (0 for 16 last five games) in the three-hole and Tommy Joseph (1 for last 31) batting fifth. Andres Blanco remains in the lineup, starting at second base.
