After hitting a key home run in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Cubs, Ryan Howard has earned himself a second consecutive start.
Howard will again play first base and bat fifth in today's 1:05 start in the series finale.
In his first start in a week, Howard hit a solo blast on a hanging Kyle Hendricks' curveball out to right-centerfield. Howard was 1 for 3 with a walk on the day.
The top five in the order remains the same, with Odubel Herrera leading off, followed by Cesar Hernandez and Freddy Galvis, with Maikel Franco manning the cleanup spot.
Cameron Rupp replaces Carlos Ruiz behind home plate, batting sixth and catching for Vince Velasquez. Rupp is hitting a solid .277 with six homers and 12 RBIs on the season.
Cody Asche and Tyler Goeddel again man the corners with Asche starting in left, batting seventh, and Goeddel getting the start in right, batting eighth.
In six games played since returning from an oblique, Asche is hitting .188 with a double, a walk and five strikeouts.
