Football was back in Philadelphia Thursday night and many Eagles players delivered a message bigger than the actual game.
During warm-ups prior to the team's preseason opener against the Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field, a number of Eagles players wore shirts citing statistical figures on voter registration and percentages of prison populations.
Malcolm Jenkins, one of the NFL's most socially active players, was a part of the group.
He sent out this tweet pregame:
Before we enjoy this game lets take some time to ponder that more than 60% of the prison population are people of color. The NFL is made up of 70% African Americans. What you witness on the field does not represent the reality of everyday
America. We are the anomalies... pic.twitter.com/gCeNKuTl1d
