Sometimes when you open your mouth and say things, it comes back to bite you. That was the case on Thursday night when the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Miami Dolphins.
You may remember the Eagles traded cornerback Byron Maxwell to the Dolphins for some cap space and a bucket of crab fries back in 2016.
Welp with the Dolphins returning to Philly this week, Maxwell said he wanted to show the Eagles organization that they "messed up."
Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. But it was Maxwell who clearly messed up in the first quarter of tonight's preseason contest.
Maxwell lined up on Torrey Smith with the Birds at midfield in the first quarter. It's not entirely clear what happened next except for Smith catching a 50-yard touchdown and making it look easy.
Dolphins safety Reshad Jones and Maxwell clearly had some words after the botched play. There was clearly a coverage miscommunication.
