Sixers Rookie Shake Milton to Miss Summer League With Stress Fracture in Back

The Sixers' summer league roster is losing more and more players by the day.

After it was reported Saturday that former No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz won't participate in the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League as he continues to work on his shooting form (see story), now the Sixers will also be without draft pick Shake Milton in Las Vegas. The team announced Sunday that Milton suffered a spondylolysis (stress fracture) in his back during the pre-draft process and will proceed with a rehab program. Milton will be reevaluated in three weeks.

The Sixers traded 56th and 60th picks in last month's draft to the Dallas Mavericks to move up to No. 54 and select Milton.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard averaged 18.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game last season for SMU. He also shot 42.7 percent from three-point range over the course of his three-year college career.

"I think he's incredibly interesting with a 7-1 wingspan and a 6-6 frame that's again a combo type of player, and high character," Brett Brown said after the draft. "I feel tremendously confident and proud of the fact that the people we brought in are our type of people."
