Flyers Draft Wyatte Wylie With 127th Overall Pick in 2018 NHL Draft

Another pick and another defenseman for the Flyers.

The Flyers on Saturday afternoon selected Everett Silvertips defenseman Wyatte Wylie in the fifth round with the 127th overall pick at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Wylie is the third defensemen drafted by the Flyers on Day 2. They drafted Swedish blueliner Adam Ginning with their second-round pick (50th overall) and John St. Ivany in the fourth round (112th overall).

A teammate of highly-touted Flyers goalie prospect Carter Hart in Everett, Wylie is a 6-foot, 190-pound right-handed blueliner who skyrocketed up the NHL Central Scouting draft board in the second half of the season.

The Everett, Washington, native finished as the 71st-rated North American skater by Central Scouting, climbing 108 spots from the midterm rankings.

He finished the 2017-18 season with six goals and 31 points in 72 regular-season games and added eight points in 22 playoff games.

Wylie is a late 1999 birthday, meaning he was ineligible for the 2017 NHL draft as the cutoff date is in September. Wylie was born Nov. 2, 1999.
