The Eagles have reportedly freed up a significant chunk of cap space for the 2018 season.
And they did it by reworking safety Malcolm Jenkins' contract.

Creating over $6 million in space is pretty significant, but the Eagles were pretty close to the limit before that. Now, according to the most recent NFLPA numbers, the Eagles have over $8.6 million cap space.
Presumably, the Eagles just converted some of Jenkins' $8.6 million base salary in 2018 into a bonus to create space. That bonus then gets spread out over the final three years of his contract.
Jenkins, who was supposed to have a cap hit of $10.1 million in 2018, is signed through the 2020 season.
