Eagles Trade for Deiondre' Hall, Who Is Suspended for Week 1

Updated: 7:30 p.m.

As Howie Roseman was at the lectern for a news conference on Saturday evening after the Eagles cut their roster to 53, the Eagles made a trade.

They traded for DB Deiondre' Hall from the Chicago Bears, Roseman announced. It appears the Eagles gave up a conditional pick to get Hall.

Hall, 24, is actually suspended for the first game of the 2018 season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. According to the Chicago Tribune, Hall also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication back in February.

But Roseman said the Eagles did their "background work" on the young DB and felt comfortable bringing him in.

Hall will come to Philadelphia and arrive to the NovaCare Complex for a physical to complete the trade, but will then be banned from the building until Friday because of the suspension. He does not immediately count toward the 53-man roster.

"He's a safety who has a corner background as well," Roseman said. "Had a chance to get exposure to him the preseason and certainly his tape."

Eagles fulfill a need drafting cornerback Quinyon Mitchell

The Quinyon Mitchell vs. James Bradberry competition is officially over

This is another pickup with Joe Douglas' fingerprints on it. The Eagles' VP of player personnel was in Chicago when the Bears drafted Hall out of Northern Iowa in the fourth round of the 2016 draft.

In three seasons, Hall has played in just 10 games and has one interception that came his rookie year. Hall began the 2017 season on IR with a hamstring injury but came off IR in December. He didn't get into a game last season.

Once Hall and Nigel Bradham are back from suspension on Friday, the Eagles will need to find two spots on the roster for them. For now, Tre Sullivan is the Eagles' fourth safety, but it appears his job could be in danger with the addition of Hall.
