Biden's Choice: Root for the Flyers or Sleep Alone

Vice President defended his Flyers to room full of Chicago fans Monday

Vice President Joe Biden was in Chicago Monday to stump for a Congressional candidate but it didn't take long for the Veep to realize he had entered a lion’s den.

"This looks like a jury box right here," he said, pointing to a reserved VIP section. "I have to tell you I am guilty as charged. I am a Philadelphia Flyers fan and I make no bones about it."

Biden was defending his support of the Flyers, who lost the Stanley Cup Final to the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this month in six games.

The former Delaware senator who grew up in Scranton, Pa. explained his support of the Orange and Black.

"I was a Flyers fan before, but then I married a Philly girl (Dr. Jill Biden)."

Joe knows what it's like to be a Philly sports fan.

"Philadelphia fans are the most, uh, most persistent fans in the world. My wife is counted among them… I root fervently for the Flyers or I sleep alone. It's not a hard call. It's not a hard call at all."

The Bidens had attended the Flyers Game 4 win at the Wachovia Center.

The Veep went on to say that his wife's travels with him to Africa prevented her from going to the critical 6th game in Philly, which he said she believed the Flyers would have won if she had attended.

Despite his team losing Biden appreciated the action he saw.

"That was one hell of a series, though."
