Let the Dom Brown Era Begin

Phillies call up star prospect, send Victorino to DL

After months of speculation of when it would happen, Dominic Brown’s shot at the big leagues arrived Wednesday.

Brown was called up to the Phillies to replace center fielder Shane Victorino who was sent to the disabled list with a left abdominal strain.

Suga Shane was hurt while diving back to first base during Tuesday night’s 9-5 win over Arizona. He was batting .250 with a career-high 15 homers, 53 RBIs and 20 steals.

There is no word yet on MRI results that could reveal the severity of his injury.

Brown, 22, was tearing the cover off the ball in the minors this season batting .327 with 46 extra-base hits, 20 homers and 68 RBI in 93 games in Double-A and Triple-A.

"Phillies fans have anxiously awaited Brown's arrival for months," said Phillies.com's Todd Zolecki.

Now let's see if the new guy wearing No. 9 (hey wasn't that Von Hayes' number?) for the Phightins can live up to the hype.

Dom will make his major league debut Wednesday night against Arizona as he bats sixth and plays right field.
