It's Rainin' Roses! Penn State Clinches Big 10 Title

Nittany Lions going to the Rose Bowl

Joe Paterno told Penn State fans last night the Nittany Lions would win today. He was right.

They dominated the Spartans (557 yards of offense, a career day for quaterback Darryl Clark).

It was all right there for the taking for Penn State. They win the Big 10 title and will play in their first Rose Bowl since 1995.

A few Penn State teams of the past lost their chance at a national title at some point late in the season and then fell apart after that. Not this team. They knew they still had a lot to play for.

Another one-loss season for Penn State--- that one loss coming by 1 point. That's how close they were to possibly playing for a national title. They showed they have heart and character.

Beaver Stadium was rocking today, the first time a championship has been decided there. And it appears Joe Pa will be be back next season, coaching a 44th season. He says he intends to coach at least a few more years.

So Joe Pa will have his hip replacement surgery and then hopefully heal up in time for the Rose Bowl. He will be looking to add to his record 23 bowl wins.
