Ouch and Oops! Plaxico Burress Shoots Self?

Giants wide receiver's "accidental shooting" is being investigated.

Yes, it’s definitely one of those stories that has the classic cliche at work, “there are a lot more questions than answers right now.”

Plaxico Burress, wide receiver for the New York Giants, somehow shot himself in the leg. The thigh. He was at a night club Friday night when it happened.

The Giants put out a statement indicating that Burress suffered a wound to his right thigh in an “apparent accidental shooting” and that it could be one of those situations where police get involved at some level.

NY media have reported that Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg at a New York club called the Latin Quarter.

The injury is minor and Saturday Burress was out of the hospital.

The trigger was pulled -- accidentally it seems -- hours after the Giants announced Burress would not play against the Redskins this weekend because of a hamstring injury.

A report by Yahoo! Sports indicated that Burress was not seriously wounded and he could be able to resume playing in a couple weeks.

League officials indicated it was too soon to know if the incident could produce disciplinary action against Burress under the NFL's personal conduct policy. Police were investigating the incident and Burress reportedly could face charges if he was not properly licensed to carry the weapon, according to the Washington Post.
