How Will the Eagles Use Vick?

Despite public outcry, scratching of heads and just plain pissing off some people, Michael Vick is an Eagle.

So now that we know what colors Vick will wear it’s time to figure out what fans should expect from the former No.1 pick.

Vick was introduced as a QB but that could change.

How The Birds will use Vick remained a mystery Friday. Will they line him up in the Wildcat formation, maybe he can be another wide receiver, a situational running back or a standard backup QB.

For all the hype about Vick he was never a top-tier QB. His career numbers aren’t great: 71 touchdowns, 52 interceptions, 11,505 yards and a 75.5 passer rating in 74 career games.

In four full seasons as a starter (2002, 2004-06) Vick only once broke the Top-20 for NFL QBs in either total yardage or rating. It happened in his first full season in 2002 when his 2,936 yards ranked 18th and his 81.6 rating ranked 19th. Both numbers were career highs for Vick.

Despite his lack of numbers Vick was named to three Pro Bowl teams.

In part he was viewed as a valuable weapon because of his running ability. He ranks first among NFL QBs in all-time rushing yards per game, at 53.5 yards per game.

He also holds some NFL quarterback rushing records: most rushing yards in one game with 173 yds, most 100-yard rushing games with seven and most rushing yards in a single season with 1,039.

He also took the Falcons to the 2005 NFC Championship Game where they lost to the Eagles.

So what should Birds fans expect from Vick? Head Coach Andy Reid might not even be able to answer that one right now.
