Lavy Holding Goalie Choice Close to the Vest

Flyers coach Laviolette won't reveal Game 6 goalie

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette has decided which goalie will start Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.

He just won't say if it's Michael Leighton or Brian Boucher.

Leighton has started every game for the Flyers since Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. He's been yanked twice during the Finals -- in Game 1 and Game 5. Boucher took over at the start of the second period Sunday night with the Flyers trailing the Blackhawks 3-0.

Laviolette didn't reveal his starting goalie because he hasn't talked to his players yet, he said Monday. He gave the Flyers the day off so they'd have time to regroup before Wednesday's Game 6 against Chicago.

With his team on the brink of elimination after getting manhandled by the Hawks, Lavy could be using a bit of gamesmanship in this case.

By not revealing his starter, he is making Chicago prepare for two goalies that exhibit different strengths and weaknesses rather than being able to focus on just one.
