U.S. Contractor Imprisoned in Cuba Goes on Hunger Strike

Alan Gross, the U.S. contractor who was arrested and sentenced to a 15-year prison term in Cuba for his role in a secret U.S. government-backed mission to expand Internet access in the country, has gone on a hunger strike to protest his treatment, NBC News reported. “I am fasting to object to mistruths, deceptions, and inaction by both governments," Gross said in a statement. Gross' lawyer said his client had already lost 110 pounds in prison before the hunger strike began.
