A fire at a locked poultry slaughterhouse in China killed at least 112 people on Monday, state media said, according to Reuters. The fire broke out after dawn near Dehui in Jilin province, in northeastern China, Xinhua news agency reported. More than 300 workers were in the plant when the fire broke out, with employees reporting hearing a sudden bang and then seeing dark smoke. Officials believe the blaze may have started in the electrical system of the plant. About 100 people managed to escape, according to Xinhua. The exact number of people unaccounted for was unclear. The Jilin government said 54 people were injured.
