During my 20 years of running Leadership Philadelphia I have become a talent scout. Working intensely with over 2,000 professionals, we have become intrigued by a skill set that is particularly useful as you climb the corporate ladder: Lateral leadership. This ability to move a group of peers toward a goal without using formal authority is crucial for effective project teams and boards of directors.

The people who excel at this talent are called Connectors. They tend to have a very wide circle of influence and are adept at energizing others.
