A judge is holding a final case review in the prosecution of the alleged ringleader of an organized crime gang that operated in central and southern Delaware.
Wednesday's hearing involves 37-year-old Steven Kellam, who was one of several people arrested in 2015 following a lengthy police investigation.
Investigators say members of the network committed crimes, including murder, home invasion, robbery, assault, drug dealing and illegal weapons possession. Authorities say victims targeted for home invasion robberies were believed to be involved themselves in the distribution of illegal drugs.
Kellan and several co-defendants were accused of killing 27-year-old William Hopkins and 29-year-old Cletis Nelson during a 2014 home invasion in Millsboro.
One co-defendant, 20-year-old Rhamir Waples, is facing life in prison after being convicted in March on two counts of first-degree murder.
