Stepdad Guilty in Ambush Murders of 3 Teens

A Philadelphia stepfather has been found guilty of murdering three teens in a Juniata alley in January 2012.

Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty for 32-year-old Axel Baretto who was convicted of first-degree murder in the deaths of 14-year-old Joshua Soto, 14-year-old Dante Lugo and 16-year-old Javier Orlandi.

Prosecutors say that Baretto ambushed a car in a driveway near his home with seven teens inside, firing more than a dozen shots as they drove away killing Soto, Lugo and Orlandi and injuring a fourth.

Baretto says that the teens showed up to fight his stepsons following a Facebook argument.

Police say that someone in the car received a phone call asking the boys to meet in the driveway.

Defense attorney Jack McMahon said the teens were circling the block, terrifying the family and the car was heading toward Baretto when he fired.

The teens inside the car were unarmed at the time of the murders.
Deliberations on whether Baretto will face the death penalty begin Tuesday.
