Hiker Discovers Woman's Body in New Jersey Nature Preserve

Authorities say the body of a woman has been found at the South Mountain Reservation.

Essex County Prosecutor's Office spokeswoman Katherine Carter tells NJ.com that the body was discovered by a hiker who was walking a dog at the nature reserve around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

She says the woman hasn't been identified yet and investigators with the prosecutor's office are working to determine her cause of death.

South Mountain Reservation is more than 2,100 acres and spans portions of West Orange, Millburn and Maplewood.
